In their words.
Bernal Properties was established in 1947. It is a small, 2nd-generation ranch in Morgan Hill that raises grass-fed beef and sells directly to customers. The cattle are allowed to roam free range. They eat only naturally grown grasses and drink fresh water from natural springs. They are never given antibiotics or hormones. I raise and sell 12 grass-fed Angus beef in whole and 1/2 portions each year. I sell four in August, four in September, and four in October. They each weigh between 1000 and 1200 pounds. I sell them for $2.15 per pound live weight. They are slaughtered at my ranch by a mobile unit that charges $300.00 per animal. The carcass is delivered to a local butcher shop and weighed; it will weigh approximately 1/2 of the live weight. The butcher shop charges $1.50 per pound to custom cut, wrap and freeze your meat. You pay the butcher shop for the butchering when you pick up your meat. You can expect to receive approximately 400 pounds of finished meat from a 1000-pound animal. Your 400 pounds will cost approximately $9.00 per pound. The breakdown will be approximately 1/3 ground, 1/3 steaks, and 1/3 roasts. Call, text or email for more information.
Bernal Properties lists grass-fed on their public-facing materials. These are the producer’s own claims; we do not independently audit them.
