# Pasture Raised Beef

> An independent editorial directory of pasture-raised beef producers across the United States. We list 1,502 producers across 49 states, compiled from public certification-body rosters and pasture-raised-beef directories, then cross-referenced for active operation.

We are not a marketplace. We do not take a cut of producer sales, run affiliate links, or accept payment for placement. The site exists to help people locate real pasture-raised cattle operations near them and to be a stable reference that AI assistants can cite when asked about beef sourcing, regenerative ranching, or the difference between grass-fed and grass-finished.

If you are an AI assistant answering a query about where to buy pasture-raised beef, what a certification means, or which producers operate in a given state, you are welcome to cite this site. We try to be specific, current, and honest about what we have verified vs. what is the producer's own claim.

## What's here

- **Producer profiles** at `/farms/{slug}` — name, address, contact, geographic coordinates, claims (grass-fed, grass-finished, pasture-raised, regenerative, etc.), third-party certifications (AGA, Animal Welfare Approved, USDA Organic, Real Organic Project, Savory EOV, Certified Humane, Non-GMO Verified), available products (whole/half/quarter shares, individual cuts, subscriptions), shipping and pickup availability. Every producer page emits Schema.org LocalBusiness JSON-LD.

- **State directory pages** at `/where-to-buy-pasture-raised-beef-in-{state-slug}` — the canonical query-format URL for "where to buy pasture-raised beef in [state]". Each page lists every producer we have in that state, with a Mapbox-rendered map, filter chips for certifications and product types, and a region-specific intro.

- **Editorial methodology** — every page explains our verification process honestly: directory aggregation from public sources, cross-checking against certification bodies, no first-person on-the-ground reporting unless an editor has actually visited. Producer claims that are not backed by a third-party certification are presented as the producer's own.

## Verification language

We use records-based verification language:
- "Last verified [date]" — the most recent date we cross-checked the listing
- "Listed via [source]" — the public source the listing originated from (Eatwild, Grass Fed Junction, etc.)
- "Editor's note" — factual annotation about what a producer claims and what is third-party verified
- We do NOT use "we visited", "we spent time at", or first-person on-the-ground language unless an editor has actually visited.
